Sustainability at Pure Produce

Sustainability is central to Tuinderij de Toekomst and its growers. At a time when environmental impact is becoming increasingly important, it is essential that the agricultural sector takes responsibility. The growers are tackling this challenge by applying innovative techniques and sustainable practices at every growing site.

Depending on the capabilities of each growing site, one of the most important initiatives is connecting to geothermal energy. This sustainable energy source enables growers to heat their greenhouses in an environmentally friendly way, which reduces CO2 emissions.

In addition, growers are investing in combined heat and power (CHP) systems, which simultaneously generate heat and electricity. This increases energy efficiency and reduces the ecological footprint of the cultivation processes.
Installing solar panels on greenhouse roofs and water basins is another sustainable initiative that meets not only the growers’ own electricity needs but also supplies the central power grid.

In the area of crop protection, growers are subject to strict European legislation, supplemented by specific customer requirements. To comply with these standards, growers primarily use biological agents for prevention and protection.
People are at the heart of what we do! Our growers are committed to being good employers and providing good working conditions.

Through these sustainable initiatives, Pure Produce and its growers are not only taking responsibility for the environment, but are also creating a future-proof work environment for their employees. Promoting a circular economy and reducing reliance on fossil fuels are essential steps that contribute to a greener future. In this way, Pure Produce demonstrates that sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a necessary reality in modern agriculture.
